I am totally about to watch “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” right now, but I was lucky to send Movie Myla early!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Review by Myla Tosatto
I will try to do this without spoilers. TRY. Yoda would shake his head at that statement. Why, you ask? Because Star Wars is SACRED and people should not know anything going in to the movie. I wanted to put that in all caps, but I didn’t want to yell at you.
When you get chills when the theme music starts as the opening scrawl goes by, you know you are in for a terrific movie. And terrific it is. To say that The Last Jedi is the best episode so far is not giving it enough credit. This Star Wars fan has been waiting for this movie for 40 years (wow, I’m old).
The movie starts off right where The Force Awakens ends: Finn (John Boyega) is out of commission, Poe (Oscar Isaac), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), BB-8 and General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) are hanging with the Resistance, Rey (Daisy Ridley), R2-D2 ( Jimmy Vee) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) are trying to enlist a defeated Luke (Mark Hamill) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) are off being all bad and First Ordery.
So what happens that I can tell you without giving the movie away? Well, expect space battles, family tensions, fun CGI creatures, intriguing new characters, lightsaber fights, exquisite landscapes, witty banter, and Stormtroopers’ guns that go PEW PEW! Someone goes all Obi Wan Kenobi, somebody teases like a young Solo, someone else” Yodas” a character, and a few folks get “Lando’d”. More importantly, all will be revealed about what Luke Skywalker meant when he caused a scandal during the trailer when he says that the Jedi must end.
I do think that you will enjoy it to the fullest if you have seen the previous seven episodes. Star Wars is a “force” in and of itself and should be viewed as a delightful cinematic package (it is beyond my comprehension that people have not seen/lived/breathed Star Wars like I have). Bring the kids. They will love it. As they should.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE. It is not a trap. May the Force be with you.
