Myla has been blogging with us for almost two years! She has almost seen 100 films and shared them all with you. She is our expert when it comes to reviewing movies. As for me, I love the experience and I love being able to leave this world for a couple of hours for pure storytelling and enjoyment. This post and website contains affiliate links, which means if you choose to purchase tickets to the movie I could make a small commission. Most of the time Myla sees the movies before I do, and I go on opening day. I try not to read her reviews until I see them and they are always dead on! Here are both of our reviews:
Solo: A Star Wars Story Review
Myla Tosatto
AS ALWAYS- NO SPOILERS ALLOWED!!!
First off, let’s just get this out in the open before this Solo review goes any farther- Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Joonas Suotamo NAIL IT as Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Chewbacca. I mean, NAIL IT. The smirky grins, the smooth talking, the ROARS. . . Add in the new additions to the cast (Woody Harrelson as Beckett, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3 and Paul Bettany as Drydon Vos) and you have a whiz bang of a fun and glorious summer pic!
This is the Han Solo before Episode IV: A New Hope; before he meets the Skywalker twins, before he shoots first and before he takes Rey under his wing. If none of this makes sense to you that’s okay. A full knowledge of the nine Star Wars movies that came before (and after? And spiraled next to?) is not needed to fully enjoy this captivating movie! Would I, Movie Myla, watch all 9 and the two canon animated series- Clone Wars and Rebels before viewing? Yes. Yes, I would because I am a geek and need no extra prodding to get my Star Wars on. Solo, however, can be treated as a standalone movie. It is a perfect place to drop in and find or rediscover the Star Wars universe.
This is a great movie for kids. There is mild Star Warian violence and people die, but it’s very actiony and funny and nothing big is really at stake. I don’t mean to spoil anything, but Han, Chewie and Lando don’t die. THEY DON’T! Consequences are therefore low. What we get instead is a thrilling, buddy caper movie. Director Ron Howard throws in some swashbuckling and romance to make it a well rounded origin story!

My husband and I attended SOLO last night. Rather than seeing the film early, I chose to wait to go on a date. This time we both decided that we would experience the B&B Theaters MX4d movie experience. I would like to say WOW! If you love motion and action and are totally okay with getting different sensory feelings with sound smell and touch while you watch a movie, you will LOVE watching SOLO in 4d!
I am very happy that I am not sharing my review of the movie since I am not sure if seeing it in 4d enhanced my experience and opinion of the film. Of course, I thought the action was great, the acting was really good, and our theater had tons of laughs during the movie.
SOLO takes you through Han Solo getting his name, wanting to be a pilot, and how he found the Millennium Falcon and Chewy! My PJ’s that say Chewy is my co-pilot are so much more special now!
