As a Red Gold Ambassador, I am asked to share content about their quality products. This recipe is my original and it is definitely the BEST salsa without onions recipe I have ever had! I prefer it to be smooth but you can make it either way.
This is the best salsa I have ever eaten and it is my own recipe! I use to create a modified version that a friend’s mom gave me growing up. I recently decided that it needed a little bit more flavor and I wanted a hint of lime in the salsa and an extra seasoning.
I created this smooth salsa without onions recipe and gave it a spicy kick while balancing the flavors with some lime and fresh cilantro. This salsa will be the one everyone asks you to bring to your parties and have it ready for Cinco de Mayo!
Salsa is used in our house all the time for parties, snacks, and dinners. We love eating food with a side of salsa.
Eating onions is generally good for your health but it can cause stinky breath, some people are allergic to it, and at times it can cause acid reflux and make someone burpy.
I am brand loyal to Red Gold Tomatoes. Their products taste as fresh as can be without the gross canned smell you get from other brands. Also, it is the first can of tomatoes to be certified as non-GMO!
I love having a good salsa recipe since it is always low-calorie and can help add flavor to any meal!
Smooth Salsa Without Onions
If you don’t like onions, then the flavor will last for quite some time if a recipe is made with them. If you do like onions, there won’t feel like any ingredient is missing from this recipe because it is so delicious without needing any onions.
Ingredients:
Red Gold Diced Tomatoes drained
Red Gold Tomatoes & Green Chili
1 Tbs. Oregano
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
½ Tbs. Cumin
¼ Tbs. Cayenne Red Pepper
1 pinch of Sriracha Seasoning
1 Tsp. Diced Cilantro Leaves
½ Lime Squeezed
Directions:
- Drain a can of Red Gold Diced Tomatoes. They are the best! Place them in blender.
- Add Red Gold Tomatoes & Green Chili, Oregano, Garlic Powder, Cumin, Cayenne Red Pepper, Sriracha Seasoning, Cilantro, and a half-squeezed lime.
- Blend enough so that you can see the salsa turn smooth but can still make out the green leaves of the cilantro.
- Chill for an hour in the fridge. If you would like to serve cold.
Popcorn With Salsa
So my favorite low-calorie snack to eat when I am craving salty food is my low-fat popcorn with some salsa! The popcorn absorbs the salsa a bit so you have to dip and eat quickly but it is such a good snack and kills my chips and salsa craving when I feel like I have had too many snacks.

Salsa Macha: I absolutely love spicy food and this recipe is a salsa without tomatoes. Here is a recipe that is another alternative to having salsa that doesn’t have onions OR tomatoes. This salsa is made mostly with morita chilies which are easier to find when fresh tomatoes are out of season but yet give you a nice spice to your meals.

Can this be canned using a water bath?
Enza Ketcham says
I don’t know. I keep it refrigerated and I will eat on it for about 5 days to a week. Tastes better the second day!
