How to SAVE Money at the Movies!
Save on Snacks
I know many people who are guilty of sneaking snacks and drinks in their bags to save money at the movie theater! Let’s be honest, going to the movies could be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be! It is obvious that I review a lot of movies here on Enza’s Bargains, but I am not trying to pay full price to see a film! This post contains affiliate links.
I ENJOY taking my family to the movie because to me it is one of the greatest escapes from reality! When a movie can capture not only my attention but my family’s attention for a couple of hours, then I know it is a great story and entertaining! I just don’t want to kill our bank account so that our family of 4 can attend a movie!
Since I am quite a movie nerd, I don’t want to wait to see movies. I want to see them on opening day! So here are some KEY ways to SAVE money at the movies!
Save 60% on a new Sam’s Club Membership!
UPDATE: Memberships now are only $14 this was a limited-time deal. You can still use your extra savings and score popcorn and ticket deals in their Travel and Entertainment!

Go to Advance Screenings
If you live near a big city, this way is the easiest! Every big city has advanced screenings to movies and if you are good and lucky you can score screening tickets BEFORE the movie is even out to the public for FREE! I did this a lot even prior to blogging! I KNOW offer my local readers free screening tickets quite a bit!!! Search from advanced screening tickets for your city and bookmark those pages that often offer free screenings!
Also, find out if they have an e-mail list because you can often get emailed tickets! Here are a few national sites you want to be sure to sign up for:
Sony Screenings
GoFoBo
AdvanceScreenings.com
Shop Discounted Tickets
Another way to SCORE is to SHOP GROUPON! They often have deals! Just go to Groupon and search “movies”. I found Dealbucks and MORE!!!
Join loyalty programs
E-mail lists and theater clubs are another great way to save! AMC has a FREE sign-up where you get $2 off every Tuesday ticket right now, plus free large popcorn refills! Make a list of your nearby theaters whether it is AMC or B&B or Alamo Drafthouse or another possible theater. Once you have made a list visit each of their websites and sign up with your e-mail address! A lot of times you will score some monthly coupons and even fun birthday coupons for stuff like free popcorn and free large drinks! It can be quite the savings!
Here are some tips on how to save at B&B Theater!
Choose matinee or weekday showings!
Movie tickets are often cheaper during matinee or weekday showings compared to prime time or weekends and sometimes there is a special day of the week with deals on snacks and tickets. Find all your local theaters and know their discounts.
Skip 3D or IMAX
This is a tough one for me because I love a great experience, but if I just want to see the movie and need to save some money IMAX and 3D and even 4D movies are a lot more expensive.
