I was invited on an expense paid trip to New York City to attend a special screening, Ricki-themed night out, and the press junket to promote the upcoming movie, “Ricki and the Flash” movie.
There is nothing more fun than being able to fly out to NYC for the “Ricki and the Flash” Press Junket! I stayed in New York for one night to check out a special screening, had a Ricki-themed night, and interviewed the cast of, “Ricki and the Flash”. I am going to say that this press junket was one of the MOST fun Press Junkets I have ever attended! It was a very short weekend but there was definitely a HUGE amount of fun!
Ricki and the Flash Press Junket Blogger Itinerary
I arrived in New York Saturday, checked in the hotel, and then enjoyed lunch. After we were able to get ready we met in the lobby to what we were told a “bus” was going to take us to the Sony screening room in downtown New York. There was about 12 of us on the bus. This was NOT an ordinary bus at all. The bus had leather seating, loud music, a light show, and maybe just maybe a dancing area! It totally did have a dancing area!
Rock Star Treatment
We arrived in style to Sony where we screened the movie (I will tell you ALL about it later this week) and then were treated to a nice surprise outside of the Sony Screening Room! We were greeted with iced soda, drinks, and a special “Ricki” drink, amazing appetizers that included my favorite hummus and pita bread, and then make-overs! That is right! We had 3 amazing free-lance makeover and stylists waiting to give us Ricki-inspired makeovers! We were able to choose from hair, make-up, and even eyelashes.
Mommy Makeovers
The sweetest makeup artist (who also works on a lot of celebrity makeup) fixed up my eyes! She went all out with some fresh shadow, fixed my under eyes (I had to wake up at 2:15 am to make my flight that morning), and even gave me some VERY natural and awesome fake eyelashes. This was a total first for me! They were so much fun, looked totally natural, and lasted the night!
We mingled together, and then went to a restaurant where we were treated to great food AND a band! It was very relaxing and fun!
Meryl Streep Rockstar!
We had literally JUST finished watching “Ricki and the Flash” and the movie is all about LIFE! Meryl Streep plays Ricki Rendazzo who followed her dreams and worked in a cover band. It stars Rick Springfield and the movie contains REAL live music in all the scenes. They REALLY performed and it was not the phony bologna Hollywood music scenes that you are use to!
So for this “Ricki and the Flash” Press Junket, I was flown out to NYC, checked into a high end hotel, transported in a Rock Star party bus, screened a Rockstar movie with A+ talent, and then had a Rock star makeover and went out to watch a live band!
About Ricki and the Flash in Theaters EVERYWHERE August 7, 2015
Meryl Streep takes on a whole new gig – a hard-rocking singer/guitarist – for Oscar®-winning director Jonathan Demme and Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody in Ricki and the Flash. In an original and electrifying film loaded with live musical performances, Streep stars as Ricki Rendazzo, a guitar heroine who made a world of mistakes as she followed her dreams of rock-and-roll stardom. Returning home, Ricki gets a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right as she faces the music with her family. Streep stars opposite her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer; Rick Springfield, portraying a Flash member in love with Ricki; Kevin Kline as Ricki’s ex-husband; and Audra McDonald as Kline’s new wife.

A movie with Meryl Streep & Rick Springfield?! Sign me up. As a die hard General Hospital fan, I lived and breathed Rick Springfield music!
