I attended the screening of “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”. This is a movie about family! A family who learns and cherishes moments in their child’s life. You learn that your children inspire and create your family’s cherished moments. I wanted to write this post because I can relate so much to this movie!
I have always known the meaning of love! The unconditional love that you have for your family. I knew my husband was “the one” at a very young age. We have been together since we were 15. I knew I loved him. As we grew up together we fell in love. Loving and being “in love” are different to me.
I knew my purpose in life when I became a mother. I remember finding out I was pregnant and being so happy and yet nervous to tell my friends who have been trying to get pregnant and failed and/or had miscarriages. I knew that being a mom was not just a choice, but a blessing and part of my purpose in life.
I remember the doctor handing my daughter to me for a quick picture before rushing her to NICU. Holding my daughter and looking in to her eyes for the first time was very magical. I closed my eyes then opened them and she is three years old! Exaggeration? Not really, she has grown up so fast! I blinked and now she is three. Just recently she started to tell me, “Mommy, I am NOT a baby”. As I go back and remember those key moments of her life while growing up, I found out that she was really my teacher.
A few magical moments and what I learned:
Holding my daughter for the first time: She taught me it was time to protect.
Watching my husband hold her for the first time: Made me feel like we were now a family and not just a couple.
Hearing her say “Mama”: That parent/child communication starts when they are first born and should only and always improve.
Taking my daughter to her first day of school: This hasn’t happened yet. I know I am going to learn just as much as her. Not in regards to my alphabet and numbers, but rather in allowing her to grow and be her own person.
In the movie, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Timothy becomes the teacher in his parents’ lives. He teaches his parents all of the important things in life. The movie is just absolutely heart-warming! It is imaginative, but really a beautiful and fun metaphor! Everyone should have a “Timothy” in their life. You will totally fall in love with him.
The Odd Life of Timothy Green comes out in theaters on August 15th. Be sure to check it out! Timothy comes from the garden, BUT you are going to be able to relate SO much to your own life! I did!
