Recently I had the chance to attend the Miracles from Heaven press junket in LA! During the trip, I attended a screening of the movie Miracles from Heaven where I reviewed the movie. I also had the unique opportunity to interview some of the key people behind the making of this movie!
Who are the producers behind Miracles from Heaven?
Throughout the interview, these three were lovingly referred to as the “dream team”. Their uncanny ability to work together making an amazing movie has not gone unnoticed since their debut together producing the movie Heaven is For Real.
The question that was constantly at the forefront of this interview was “Why this story?”. Of all the amazing miracles that happen on a daily basis, how do you decide which to choose?
“I though it came from a place of heartfulness and wholeness. The story was at times painful and powerful, but yet ultimately uplifting”. – T.D. Jakes
“You read a lot of material, so you look for certain things. Certainly authenticity being one of them. This felt like an authentic story…a very relatable story. A mother-daughter story, and a story that people could derive hope from”. -Joe Roth
The message of faith wasn’t lost on the cast and producers either. Some found miracles and faith through the movie:
“It was very powerful when she [Jennifer Garner] shared that when she wrapped the film her children (who had been in Atlanta with us pretty much the whole that we were shooting) said to her ‘well mom, you never take us to church’ and immediately from that Sunday to this they have been in church, and love it”. DeVon Franklin
“I want people to walk away and say tenacity can pay off, and that things are not hopeless even when they look hopeless. To bring hope into their own eyes and to have a less cynical view of the world”. – Joe Roth
“This movie reflects a big miracle but I think the takeaway for me personally was to slow down and appreciate the little ones. The small things that happen every day that you look over. You can get so busy doing what you do that you don’t notice the extended grace that people give you every day. That none of us would be where we are or accomplish as much as we did if someone hadn’t gone out of their way to be nice us”. -T.D. Jakes
And to others… the miracle WAS the movie itself:
“These guys are legends and I literally quit my job. I was an executive at Sony when Heaven is for Real was made, and we did that together, and I quit my job and started my own company as an act of faith to be able to produce this movie alongside these guys. They have major multi-international enterprises…and I i got is this little old movie! So..you wanna talk about faith and being a believer…. this movie made me a believer!” DeVon Franklin
I interviewed the cast, the writers, and the producers behind this incredible film! Be sure to check out that coverage as well!
