Love, Simon
Myla Tosatto
I had high hopes for Love, Simon. After all, Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli is a truly fantastic and lighthearted novel. So, were my expectations met? Yes! And then some! Then I realized that I had other hopes for Love, Simon as well. I hoped that all kids like Simon (Nick Robinson) would have as understanding and loving parents (Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel) and friends (played by Leah Burke, Alexandra Shipp and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.). Then, while watching this delightful pic, I started having hopes that this generation will finally get its John Hughes type films. This age group hasn’t had its Breakfast Club or 16 Candles, not even its Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You or Bring It On yet. Love, Simon is ready to take up that challenge. Kids need films like this to help them process their emotions as well as to have a great time at the Cineplex. This post contains affiliate links.
May all our kids be as well adjusted as Simon, Leah, Abby, Nick, and Bram. May they be healthy and happy and have fun movies to adore. Also, may all teen movies have a musical number in them.
