As a mom of two girls and a teacher, education is so important to me in the summer. We totally do have fun and have lots of break days, but when my kids play I want them to also learn and review from time to time.
They both work really hard to have learned so much throughout the year, I don’t want that summer education gap that one might have by not reading or practicing math in the summer.
My kids LOVE technology! The LeapStart by LeapFrog has been a great tool for them! We were given lots of different level books for them to play with and I have been giving them “rewards and surprises” one book at a time!
LeapStart has activities, games, songs, reads to them and allows them to earn stickers as they get through different levels. WARNING: My two year old got to the stickers and started using them wherever she wanted. Be careful ;). This is a great way to get her ready for Preschool this year as a reward system. We are giving away one of the LeapStarts to someone we know who is starting the 1st Grade.
I am so nervous for her to start school for the first time. She has been at home with dad and/or family members! My oldest is going in the 2nd grade already. She is so smart and such a great reader. I am so proud of her accomplishments at such a young age! She is totally still into young games and toys and I am never going to force her to grow up.
When I ask my kids what they want to do and they choose to play with LeapStart, my heart is super happy!
