Jurassic World Dominion Review

It’s 2022 and dinosaurs walk amongst us. This is the premise of the new movie Jurassic World: Dominion. Pretty good premise, right?

You fly in a plane and there is a Pteranodon outside your window, you have a hamburger while a Brachiosaurus walks by, you go to a baseball game and Velociraptors eat the opposing team. . .

Well, we get that for a bit. A tiny bit. Then the movie veers off into genetics, cloning, locusts, and science experiments on babies. This might not be the movie people expect (but original Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton would be proud).

Jurassic World: Dominion does give the viewer what they want in the form of returning Jurassic alums Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), Barry Sembene (Omar Sy), Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong), and the original terrific trio: Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler, Same Neill as Alan Grant, and Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm.

Of course, we meet new people to root for; Kayla Watts (DeWanda Wise) and Ramsay Cole (Mamoudou Athie), and a few to root against in Lewis Dodgson (Campbell Scott), Santos (Dichen Lachman), and Rainn Delacourt (Scott Haze).

Most importantly, Jurassic World: Dominion gives us the main attraction- DINOSAURS!! We meet the Giganotosaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Quetzalcoatlus, Atrociraptor, and most impressively the Pyroraptor.

But don’t worry, your old favorites are back as well!! Yes, Blue is back and for some reason neighbors with Owen and Claire. They borrow sugar from each other and talk smack about the guy in the cabin down the road. I presume.

Now on a side note:

Even if I wanted to spoil this movie for you, I couldn’t since the screening I attended had a disruption that made Movie Myla nervous and forced me to leave the theater early. Because some jerk ruined the movie for everyone, I will never know who gets eaten by a dinosaur, if Ellie and Alan ever solve their ‘will they/won’t they dynamic, or how Owen can reason with a dinosaur when I can’t reason with my cat.
