Inside Picnic With Kids
When feeding my family, I don’t have time to cook every night. This sounds totally crazy because I came from a home where my parents cooked us a full dinner every single night of our life. I work a lot of hours and I am happy to be able to mix up different meals and side entrees for my family so that I know that I am helping to balance their plate with more nutrients!
The other night I needed something quick to cook for my kids as I had some work to do. We decided to go for some Pepperoni California Pizza Kitchen! I wanted to make it fun for my kids while also making sure they had some extra sides! We had a PICNIC in our living room while watching cartoons! I got out our Mickey shaped plates and filled it up with pizza, a side salad, and some dried cranberries! This definitely helped keep the proportions appropriate! My 6 year old loved it! My almost 2 year old wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do and had fun trying to run around and have me feed her bites of pizza! I have gotten in the habit of feeding my girls healthy sides with each meal. If I don’t at least have two sides on their plate, my 1 year old gets really upset and points at her plate or her empty Mickey ear!
Balance Your Plate
Being able to create fun memories for my kids while teaching them that having healthy sides on their plate is important to me! I encourage each of you to be creative when feeding your kids! Find them some fun plates, have an indoor picnic, let them have movie night during dinner, and such. Doing these fun things always creates fun memories. When you match up fun memories with a well-balanced meal your kids are able to create happy moments while eating well!
California Pizza Kitchen
I attended a conference call with Nestle and California Pizza with their Balance Your Plate Initiative. It was very informative about when eating frozen foods that are rich in high quality ingredients like CPK add some sides like a garden salad, fresh-grilled vegetables, and low-fat milk to make it better.

Inside picnics are the best. During rainy days here in Florida, this and teas parties has helped save me from having disappointed kids due to cancelled plans.

My kids love pizza and would literally eat it every night. I’ve never tried California Pizza Kitchen pizza with them but I need to check it out!

We tried the CPK gluten-free pizza recently. It was delicious, and didn’t really taste gluten-free.
