A couple of weeks ago I was in LA, for the Incredibles 2 Press Junket! Incredibles 2 killed it opening weekend at the Box Office. We are heading into the 2nd weekend box office and I can’t imagine it not doing amazing again! If you haven’t taken your family to the movie you definitely will want to take them this weekend. Our Incredibles 2 Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener Interview had me laughing and excited about it!
Bob Odenkirk is the voice of “Winston Deavor” & Catherine Keener is the voice of “Evelyn Deavor”. You learn more about their characters in this movie throughout. What I can tell you is that they are both in charge of getting a team together to legalize superheroes since the government has banned them. They both do an amazing job at this movie!
This trip was sponsored by Disney/Pixar. This post contains commission links if you happen to make a purchase.
Incredibles 2 Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener Interview
Catherine entered the room at first shocked with a room full of women. Her reaction was adorable and humbling! Then when Bob entered the room, Catherine praised him for being such a great dad and man and advocate for women. It was definitely a feel good moment before we started letting the Q&As role!
What makes Brad Bird different to work with than other directors in Hollywood?
Bob: “Well, he’s not different from all of the directors. He’s a lot like the best directors. My experience — I mean you could speak — ’cause you’ve worked with amazing directors and Spielberg and Alexander Payne and Vince Gilligan. These guys know what they want, and they dial it in just so — and that could sound like oppressive to an actor. It’s not though.”
(About working for a Director like Brad)
Catherine: “it’s so exciting, because you are — you go into somebody else’s world and then create your own. It’s really exciting when that happens, which is what — and all actors wanna work with great filmmakers. That’s really where it goes. When they start out and before they’re compromised by the business and stuff, everybody does it because of the creative reasons. And a lotta actors just need a good part, you know. So.”
What’s it like seeing yourself animated? And with that, do some of the characters faces — can you look at it and be like that’s so me? You know what I mean?
Bob: I don’t know. People have said my character looks a lot like me, and there’re ways I think, yeah, that it is. And then there are ways I’m like, wow, I’m not remotely like that. Obviously I don’t dress as well as the character. That’s for sure.
If you could have one super power in real life, which one would it be and why?
Bob: I’ll say mine, ’cause it’s dopey. I would like to be able to eat whatever I want and not gain weight.
Catherine: “But first — no. Well, I would just like to be able to go home at any — that’s all I wanna do, ’cause I just wanna — ”
Bob: “Like, she’ll still go to the airport, wait in line, go through to get some– but then going home is always [CLAP] like that.”
Catherine: “And I’m home. I’m in my pajamas. My bed’s made. Clothes are off the floor. And I’m ready to go to bed, you know. “
About Watching the Film With Daughter
Bob: “…And everybody talks about how Holly Hunter and the Elastigirl’s story and being a female superhero is so great for women, and it is. And I’m glad my daughter saw that. And I’m especially glad she saw the scene where the dad’s knocking on the daughter’s door. Violet? Leave me alone. And then I got — she got to experience what it’s like on the other side of her door.”
