When it comes to feeling happy, I found that a clean house and getting rid of clutter is something that definitely helps with my anxiety. I also found that having a good routine on getting rid of items that my family no longer uses helps free up space and helps keep our house clean. I used to try to sell out items in Facebook Swap Groups and in Garage Sales, but and I learned that it isn’t for me. I would rather donate my items to Goodwill.
Why I Donate to Goodwill:
Swap Groups can be a real waste of time and don’t really make me much money. I have to go through people who say they are interested and change their mind a lot. Donating Items to Goodwill has made life so much easier. Goodwill has great locations – easy to drive up, let someone unload my car and be on my way. Goodwill also has later hours, most locations are open until 9pm. So I can donate on my own schedule and grab a late-night bite at the same time, not wait around for someone to pick it up.
I also feel better knowing that 90 cents of every dollar Goodwill spends supports their mission!
Feeling Better!
Whenever I donate items to Goodwill, there is always a huge weight (literally) that is lifted off my shoulders. My kid’s closets have items in there that I know they can still wear. It allows me to create a great system where my oldest girls’ clothes goes to my baby’s closet up high where she can’t reach. Then when I clean the baby’s closet I can move her sisters’ hand-me-downs to her lower section of her closet! Getting rid of items that we don’t need any more makes out house less cluttered and it is truly easier to clean!
My Kids Drive me a little less nuts. When all of their clothes are toys are items they actually play with, they also seem less overwhelmed! This is a really big sigh of relief for this working momma!
Avoiding Landfills. Whether you are good at taking care of Mother Earth or not, you can feel better knowing that, Goodwill goes further to divert over 80% of donations from landfills through resale, reuse or recycling.

In the years we have itemized our deductions I think the tax credit for clothes donated is more than what I could sell them for anyway!

I like to give away to others, especially if I liked an outfit, so I know it gets it use and others can enjoy it. I need to clear out our closets soon and bring in to donate. The swap sites are often a pain, so it is so much easier to give away and let the stuff get the love it should without harming our environment.

Your entries may be low because your entry form keeps glitching. It refuses to save my entries.

Is it still glitching? Thank you for the information, Nikki!
