This last weekend Gods of Egypt hit the box office. Thanks to Lionsgate Entertainment, my husband and I were fortunate enough to fly out to New York and see the premiere! I’m so excited to tell you all about it so please read my Gods of Egypt movie review.
Gods of Egypt Movie Review
First off, let me start by saying that I thought this movie was AWESOME! The storyline was great, and it kept me hooked the entire time. I can’t think of one single moment in the movie where I felt that things were growing slow, or that I lost interest. Trust me…this says a lot, coming from me. The thing that I loved most about the movie is that there is a little something for everyone.
Into special effects? You’re in luck.
A sucker for a romantic love story? They’ve got you covered also. If you’re into mythology and Greek gods, you’ll find this movie entertaining as well. It is, however, important to note that this is NOT a historically accurate film. Nor is it meant to be. This film is purely for entertainment purposes, which it totally nails!
Enough about the plot… can we talk about the cast for a minute? Namely… Gerard Butler? OMGEE!!! He nailed his character Set, as he does each and every time he hits the big screen. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau did an awesome job in the leading role of Horus. Horus is the character that you automatically fall in love with from the first moment you see him.
Courtney Eaton played the sweet and adorable Zaya, while Elodie Yung played the sexy and somewhat promiscuous Hathor. Another character that definitely stands to be remembered is Thoth. Thoth is played by Chadwick Boseman, and will keep you laughing with his uncanny wisdom and quite obvious self-absorption!
Whether you’re looking for a date night movie, and girl/guys day out, or could just use a bit of action in your life… I suggest you hope over to your local theater and check this movie out!
