Free Cricut Pattern Blocks
If you are like me, you were forced to do virtual learning with your kids at home. We were doing Go Math worksheets on our own so that we didn’t have to dig out a million different Google Classroom videos. What we found out is that having hands on shapes were much better than trying to only draw the divisions in the shapes. We even created a great Cricut Clock that we shared that taught my daughter how to tell time in just a day!
Getting started:
If you are a teacher and you haven’t ever purchased a Cricut, I created the MUST-have starting Cricut accessories list. You will want to have this list when you are getting started! Check it out prior to purchasing your first machine! Also, we would suggest that you purchase straight from the Cricut website while their prices are the best you can find.
Drawing is great too but when you are learning the concept you should start off by understanding it first and then add in those motor skills of drawing them out. My disclosure is that I am not a 1st grade teacher but I am a teacher. So the simple scaled level of learning comes naturally to me.
Cricut File and Worksheet Free to Use:
If you are a teacher accessing this lesson plan, you do not have permission to republish any of our created content. You are welcome to share them and use them but you can not sell or republish our content. You are also welcome to forward THIS website to anyone you would like to access the files themselves. We choose to NOT post these for sale because we would rather introduce our website to more people than try to make money.
What you need to create the shapes:
Here is what you will need to create the Pattern Block Shapes for Cricut.
Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine
Ream of Cardstock Paper Any Color
Cricut Scraper
Pattern Blocks Worksheet (below)
- You will want to print our Pattern Blocks Worksheet. The shapes just be about 2 inches in width. When you use our Cricut file just confirm by measuring the hexagon on your Cricut sheet and you can edit and resize them all by selecting them all and resizing them at once. Here is our file that you can use as long as you have a Cricut machine. That way all your shapes will fit our attached worksheet.
- Each different shape should print with a different color. If you are using Go Math we have extra hidden shapes that are on the next unit that you might find useful to unhide and cut and use.
- Place all your individual shapes in baggies to create a classroom set. Each file is only one set.
Pattern Blocks Worksheet
Use this PDF of our worksheet we created. Use these awesome dry erase reusable pockets so that they can be reused multiple times and after they are done playing with shapes they can try to use a dry erase marker to draw their pattern blocks in the shapes!

They are still available! So happy to hear you came across them! I used them for when my kids were doing remote learning. I am a High School teacher! If you use them I would love it if you could share the article to your social media pages.

How did you get the pattern block pattern into design space with the correct colors? I purchased foam and three months later, I am still trying to figure out how to do this! Please help! I am a kindergarten teacher

I created the shape file already for you! Just click on the hyperlink in the instructions. It will take you design space with the shapes to cut…you can choose any color you want to cut them.

Hello,
I’m getting a message in Cricut saying this is no longer available. Is there any way to share the file?
Enza Ketcham says
Can you try now?

Hello – this is just what I was looking for to make for my grandson, but I can’t find the file.
Thank you!!
