I loved Zootopia! Disney’s Animation Studios did it again with this movie to entertain all types of audiences! There are so many jokes in this movie with an excellent story line that you and your family will be laughing a lot! At one point I turned toward my husband and he was squinting so hard from laughing at Flash and how much he could relate to that while being at the DMV! He later explained to me how it was painfully accurate. (Flash is a sloth who plays a funny and slow worker)
The movie does an amazing job at creating this animal world in thier separate environments filled with animals that fit their characteristics and personality! Judy Hopps plays the first bunny cop and she is just adorable! You won’t want to call her that because to be honest you should really call bunnies adorable and cute. It isn’t animalitcally correct (I made up that word).
At one point of the movie Nick Wilde, the fox, tells Judy Hopps that “Everyone comes to Zootopia thinking they can be whatever they want. But you can’t, you can be what you are.” Whether this holds true in the movie, I will leave it for you to determine. Zooptopia has some amazing lessons to be learned. You and your kids can have a great conversation afterwards about some of the major themes and messages from the movie:
1. Don’t ever give up.
2. You can be whatever you want.
3. Kindness works.
4. Friendship. You can be friends with anyone including those who aren’t like you. Bunnies believed that you never trust a fox and Judy found kindness and friendship in Nick Wild (a sly fox). There are lots of stereotypes in the animal world and in the real world that people should overcome.
Like every Disney movie, Disney nails it with the comedy and the story! My girls are 2 ½ and 6 ½. It kept their attention the entire time. My girls are extremely sensitive and get scared at the site of a villain. So during the movie they did hop (like little bunnies) on our laps holding on and covering their eyes. I had to teach my daughter how every good movie wants you to feel the rollercoaster of emotions. There were parts that they were both laughing out loud! I am pretty sure I have two Shakira fans as they were dancing in the theater with her new song!

We happened to see this with our children only last night! My husband and son both really enjoyed it. I thought it was enjoyable as well. I wasn’t blown away, but I liked it enough to watch it again sometime, and buy it on blu-ray if my son would like to see it again.
