Stargirl is now available on Disney+ and my family and I can’t wait to kick off our Spring Break watching it! Disney+ Stargirl Grace VanderWall Interview has been sitting in my drafts for quite some time. Earlier this year I shared that this movie will be available on Disney+ and that I would share more about my set visit and interviews in the upcoming months. Today I wanted to share my interview with Grace VanderWaal.

Today is a really ironic day for me to share about this particular interview. Grace shares about happiness and self-care. I have a lot on my shoulders and so do a lot of people in this world when it comes to the current Coronavirus. I can’t wait to to pop some popcorn and watch the movie with my family right now! (Actually, the popcorn is already popped!)

Grace VanderWall plays Stargirl in the new Disney+ exclusive movie. She is quirky, different, and talented like her role in the movie. This is Grace’s first big breakout role. She was discovered in America’s Got Talent playing her Ukulele on national TV. She soon grew very popular on her social media accounts. The director and cast also spoke so highly of her talent.
How do you relate to your character?
When asking Grace if she relates to her character she said, “I definitely relate. I am not as cool as her.” She also shared, “Stargirl is like really quirky, just different. And I don’t know she’s just like what someone would be if they lived without judgment or like norms, I feel like. So it’s really cool that you could like see how someone could be if they were genuinely a hundred percent themselves.”
What do you want girls to take away from this movie?
There are some really good messages in the story. When asking Grace what she hopes young girls will take away she said, “It shows that when you start caring about someone and loving someone how you would sacrifice your happiness for theirs. And I hope that the message that comes out of this is beyond be yourself but understand that your happiness is most important and your self care is most important.”

What was Grace’s favorite scene?
At the time I had interviewed Grace, she still had two more weeks of filming. She shared how much FUN it was to be on set filming for the first time and how when she was younger she wanted to be an actress. When we were on set, they were filming the Hot Seat scene and her favorite scene hadn’t been recorded yet. She shared that her favorite scene was “the dance” and she loved her dress. She shared pictures of her dress on her cell phone and was so excited about it!
