While in LA for an all expense Disney press trip, I went on set of Disney’s Bunk’d at Camp Kikiwaka! All opinions are my own. I was asked to share my experience with all of you! (Not that they needed to ask because it was so much fun and totally awesome!)
Are you excited for Disney’s Bunk’d NEW Jessie spinoff TV show? This show is when Emma, Ravi, and Zuri go to summer camp at Camp Kikiwaka. They make new friends while they are there and it just so happens that this is the same camp where their friends meet. You will see Disney veterans and new actors and actresses on this show! I had the opportunity to visit Camp Kikiwaka—aka the set of the TV show where we met the cast in a round table setting. It was so much fun since we were interviewing them the same time that they were filming TV introductions to their TV show for international commercials. While we were there talking, asking questions, taking selfies…we would randomly have to all be super quiet for the camera crew who was right outside the camp where we were sitting!
Meeting with Disney’s Bunk’d Cast
We first met with Nina Lu (plays Tiffany), Nathan Arenas (plays Jorge), and Skai Jackson (plays Zuri Ross) in the show. We were interested about whether or not they had ever been to summer camp. Nina mentioned that after being on this show that she hopes to go. Sweet Nathan said that he wouldn’t go because he would miss everyone too much. They thought that it was weird to watch their selves on TV. They said being on set is like you are watching TV but you are really close!
Our next round table meet up was with Kevin G. Quinn (plays Xander) and Karan Brar (plays Ravi Ross) on Bunk’d. Both of these young men had done theater and they said that being on this show felt like there were doing theater. Karan said that he went to Pamper Cabin in Seattle Washington. Kevin said that he use to go to camp two weeks at a time for three years in Wisconsin. Kevin also has a fake accent in the show. Karan has a fake accent on the show and it is SO good! He was born in Washington and you would totally believe that he is somewhere from the Middle East!
Last, but definitely no least we met with Miranda and Peyton! Miranda May plays Lu and Peyton List plays Emma Ross. During this round table this was the one we had to be the quietest because they were filming. We learned that Peyton has a twin brother who also acts and does a lot more serious roles. Miranda loves to sing. We learned that they were both born on the same day and have become real good friends in real life. They said when they first met they didn’t think that they would get along as good as they do now. They often hang out, have sleep overs, and are total besties!

Camp Kikiwaka
The day we went on set of Bunk’d it was interesting. They had an audience that seemed like it was mostly friends and family of the actors and actresses. We sat in the audience for about five minutes. There were curtains in front of us and we were watching them do a scene on TV from the audience stand. We then walked on set where we were in Camp Kikiwaki’s lodge. They had games set up and the picnic tables where they would eat. Then next to that area it looks like you are outside at the camp. It was awesome the lighting the trees, and everything around you made it FEEL like you were outside but everything is actually inside.
Be sure to CHECK out Bunk’d on the Disney Channel!
Bunk’d airs on the Disney Channel starting July 31, 2015 on Friday’s at 8:00pm ET!
Emma, Ravi, and Zuri Ross have left their New York penthouse for a summer at Maine’s rustic Camp Kikiwaka, where their parents met as teenagers. Now CITs (Counselors In Training), they must learn the ropes from the overly cheerful head counselor Lou and the camp heartthrob, Xander. Zuri makes new friends with two younger campers, the uptight Tiffany and compulsive fibber Jorge. The camp’s owner is Gladys and she’s even scarier than the legendary creature that’s rumored to stalk the grounds, and with help of her sneaky niece Hazel, she’s out to get the Ross kids because of her decades-old rivalry with their mom. Along with their new friends, Emma, Ravi and Zuri adapt to their new “home away from home” and settle into their exciting new lives at Camp Kikiwaka.
