Back to the Outback
Netflix is constantly churning out new content. Sometimes it’s mindless entertainment for the kiddos and other times, the content will delight the entire family. The latter is the case of Back to the Outback.
Not only are the children in your life going to be entertained, but you will be as well. There is so much heart and so many laughs that you and the whole crew can enjoy this road trip movie over the holidays! And yes, there is a ton of potty humor in it, but when is that not funny?
Writers Harry Cripps and Gregory Lessans bring to life the tale of a beautiful, but deadly snake Maddie (Isla Fisher). Maddie lives in the Dangerous Animal House of an Australian zoo with her friends, Frank the spider (Guy Pearce), Zoe the lizard (Miranda Tapsell), and Nigel the scorpion (Angus Imrie). They are mostly happy and content until their “mother” Jackie the crocodile (Jacki Weaver) is taken from them in a misunderstanding.
Maddie and her crew decide to hit the road to find Jacki and the Outback that they have only heard about. The animal trainer Chaz (Eric Bana) and his son, Chaz Jr. (Diesel La Torraca), are hot on their heels. The star of the zoo, Pretty Boy (Tim Minchin), is also unhappily along for the ride.
Not only is this movie going to make you LOL at dung beetles doing their thing, but it will also make your kids think about some great topics like- what makes a family, what makes someone pretty, is your home where you land, or where you are from . . . The other discussion you may want to have is that although Maddie, Frank, Zoe, Nigel, etc. are drawn beautifully, they are dangerous beasts. Or you can just sit back and let a toxic frog (Keith Urban) serenade you. Regardless of how you approach this movie, you will enjoy it.
