As a Verizon Ambassador #VZWBuzz I am sharing this story with you to help keep all of you connected. As a geek and a mommy even we can love using an Apple Watch. This is my first and honest opinion on my first smart watch! I was not compensated or given this watch as part of my review. I was only asked to share technological stories with you each month. Being able to share my favorite apple watch features was important to me.
I have never had a smart watch and for the last 10 years wearing a watch has never been my thing. As a matter of fact, I always wondered what is the point of a watch if the time is already everywhere and I have my cell phones with me whenever I am out and about.
So when the new year started, I began to pay attention to the amount of steps I was taking. I used the fitness app from my iPhone. Once I got home, and throughout large periods of the day, I never actually had my phone with me. Therefore there were huge portions of my steps that weren’t accounted for. I also use to have a FitBit. It was one I had to attach to my bra strap and I never actually liked wearing it. I found it a nuisance and I would forget to wear it about 50% of the time. So I decided that having an Apple Watch would help me keep track of my fitness goal! The question was it really worth the investment because I can get a pedometer for pennies on the dollar if I needed one! So as a smart shopper I had to justify the need.
During my full-time job, it is not encouraged for us to have our cell phones out and for large periods of the day I miss lots of emails. The week prior to me getting my phone I missed a timely e-mail that ended up costing me $100.00. My mind, told me that if I would have an Apple Watch that I could set up my e-mail notifications to come straight to my wrist to glance at all my incoming e-mails with the fear of not missing one.
I have had my watch now for over a month. So what are my favorite smart watch features?
My favorite Apple Watch features.
Health: I love the fact I can get my blood pressure checked any time. I can set fitness goals. It reminds me when I have been sitting for two long. This is a fun feature because as a blogger and as a full-time teacher I am sometimes on the computer and/or in meeting for long periods of time. Staying active not only keeps my body movie, but it also keeps my mind awake. Because of this feature, I have found myself wanting to take my kiddos for a walk more often.
Notifications: I am so embarrassed when I am with friends or in a meeting and I feel my phone ring. I feel like a total jerk when I am forced to glance at it. I need to know if my husband needs me or if there is something important happening with the site. So I have been known to look at my phone and realize it is only my best friend sending me a dancing gif image of a dancing turkey because she thought it was funny.
GPS reminders: I am the worse at directions! So now when I tell my watch or my phone to give me directions to get to my location…my wrist vibrates prior to my phone giving me directions on when and where to turn. What a great way to keep my eyes on the road!
Messenger: How fun is it that I can now get my messages from my phone using my wrist watch! I can draw pictures back and forth with some of my friends in the most distinct way.
Weather: I know what a dumb app that is on every phone anyways. Let me tell you how much I like waking up and glancing at the temperature to determine whether or not I am going to get to wear capris or pants to work. I can also determine if today will be a good day to go on that walk with my two girls! Here is a picture of us enjoying the nice weather and counting steps.
I purchase my Apple Watch when it was about $50 off and I had over $100 in gift cards that I had saved up! Setting it up was super easy and as smooth as you would expect for any Apple product to work for you! Learning and playing with new technology is exciting and very interesting to me.
If you aren’t a Verizon customer, be sure to check out their new devices. Our family is excited and has the Samsung 7 on our wish list! We are both iOS and Droid users in our house! We see the benefits in both, I actually carry both with me at all times. Be sure to visit www.verizon.com.

I’m still not sure how I feel about these watches. I feel that for me personally, they are a bit too large and bulky. But I’m happy that you are enjoying it.

Oh that was also a concern! I wear long sleeves almost every day and it is covered. 🙂

I use an Apple watch too and I love it for a lot of the features you mentioned! I enjoy not having to bring out my phone when eating and just quickly glancing who texted or called me. If it’s urgent then that’s the only time I excuse myself to call back.

Lovely watch! I love the Health aspect- I have a similar watch and it has a GPS, that is one thing I am hesitant about because I don’t like being tracked. Feel like a “big brother” aspect you know. But smart watches are a wave of the future. The Apple is super cool.

Sounds like a great product. I’ve never bothered to look into getting an apple watch as I don’t wear watches, but it sounds like it could be worth it!

I’m one of those people who have most Apple products but for some reason I just wasn’t interested in getting an Apple Watch but it sounds like it can be useful
