Let’s be honest! Life is like a game. Life is really tough, hard, and challenging. I have lived a really tough couple of years with my family. When I was invited to take some Angry Birds flying lessons in Hawaii to promote the new Angry Birds Movie, I didn’t think twice and said, “YES”! It was an all-expense paid trip and my heart was filled with excitement I was totally humbled to be invited! I nod my head and say yes to a lot of things in life. When I see an opportunity, I like to fly forward and accept it and see where my wings might take me.
When Life Takes Off – You have to be ready.
Just like the movie, life brings you challenges you may or may not be ready for. One of our family’s challenges was living off of just my income for almost two years. Angry Birds is about a small community of flightless birds that were living peacefully and then were invaded by pigs led by Leonard (Bill Hader) on the island to take over their land. The flock teams that include Red (an always angry bird played by Jason Sudeikis) up to investigate the pigs and their intentions.
While at the Plantation in Maui for the Maui Zipline, we wanted to be prepare to zip-line to fly like the birds. We had an awesome staff who lead us through 5 flight sessions. Prior to lifting off we got all harnessed and got our helmets into place. I am terrified of heights and life (for that matter), but I can assure you that in the middle of flying I told the crew, “my face hurts from smiling so much!” This event was SO much fun! I totally left my comfort zone. When I did I found a beautiful island that was part of the United States filled with natural trees, plants, and scenery!
Do what you can to get through!
So how does a mom like me get through it all. How did we get through 2 years of living off only my income. We just had to have trust. It is scary. I remember having some depression and dealing with anxiety attacks. But somehow and some way when we needed it something came through we didn’t expect. Someone or something was always there to help.
When zip-lining and being afraid of heights I asked the crew every time, “are you sure I am in good?” Then I held on to the handlebars so tight that I was literally sore for a week afterwards. I closed my eyes, sat down, and wait for them to tell me to go. I did it, I didn’t hesitate. By the 2nd and 3rd zip-line my eyes were open and I would hold onto those handle bars with ONLY one arm at a time. I waved and smiled with few screams. I found out that it was awesome and fun and the feeling of getting through those challenges felt amazing.
You will learn to soar!
Just like the movie and the Angry Birds app the birds will learn to soar. So will you! Take your fears, your anger, your challenges and overcome them. Learn to fly. Plan that trip to go zip-lining. Start that new job! Whatever it may be, you will soar as long as you learn how to fly.

The movie I can handle, but ziplining? Probably not. To afraid of heights!

Oh that looks like fun! I think I will stick with the movie… but the zip lining does look quite adventurous!
