I was invited to an Ant-Man Set Visit. All expenses paid. This has been under embargo until NOW! đ
When I met with Abby Ryder Fortson while I was on the set of Ant-Man, I learned that she was adorable, cute, and totally exhausted by the time she had to sit down with all of us. Abby plays Cassie Lang in the new upcoming Ant-Man (2015) movie! As she walked into our little tent in which we were sitting and watching Ant-Man being filmed, she looked unsure, nervous, and not ready to talk to us. She is a young girl and had been working a very long day. She was exhausted! Her hours for the day had almost run out. So as she walked in and her agent and mom were trying to decide if she was going to be able to do the interview. I closed my official interview notebook and went ahead and took the first question. It was an unplanned questions and I knew right away it needed to break the ice. I didnât want her to see me with tons of recordings, a notebook, and a pen. She needed to just chill with us for awhile.
So the Abby Ryder Fortson Interview beganâŚ
I started off by telling her âhelloâ and told her that I had a 5-year-old daughter, and she would REALLY want to know who her favorite Disney princess was. You could see Abbyâs face light up, she relaxed, her face glowed and she was ready to talk to us. She realized that she can be herself and that we were all just humans ready to talk to her. We were her first interview! I was complimented on that being the first question. I knew right away that when she walked in we were interviewing a child and not an actress. She just so happened to be a good little actress but we were her firstâŚher very first interview! We needed her to feel welcomed.
She warmed up very quickly!
Such a young girl NAILED the interview. I am pretty sure every answer she said had a group of women (many mom) bloggers reply with an in sync âAwwwwwwâ. So that is how this interview started!
So who was Abbyâs favorite princess? ELSA! Who would have guessed! đ We followed up and asked her if she was Elsa for Halloween (since we were there just a couple of weeks after Halloween) and she said she told us she wasnâtâŚthat she was a witch! We small talked about her costume and the questions and answers started coming very quickly. When interviewing a kid they know how to directly answer each questions.
Question: What is your favorite part about making a movie?
Abby: Acting
Question: What do you think about the doll that you have been acting with all day?
Abby: I donât like it. Itâs so weird. And he bit my finger!
So let me fill you in on the creepy Ant-Man doll! Paul Ruddâs character who is her dead beat dad brings her an old broken doll that was just creepy. I mean seriously might have nightmares of this doll! I think it was a bunny!
Question: Do you like Paul Rudd? Is he fun to work with?
Abby: Mmm Hmmm. And heâs actually koo-koo (in a sing-songy) voice.
We then talked about what she thought of the Ant-Man suit! She said it was âreally coolâ and that she got to wear his gloves!
Question: Is Ant-Man your favorite superhero now?
Abby: Yeah. And Black Widow.
We then talked about how she practices with her parents who both act and how she also has a little brother. At the time he was only 22 months old, but mom mentioned that he will be acting too!
So there we go! An entire family of actors and actresses! Landing a roll in Ant-Man is big for Abby! We watched her film and she did GREAT! I donât think I could every get my 6 year old to do what she was able to do! What a talented little girl!
Be sure to go and see Marvel’s NEW next BIG (or really really small) THING on July 17, 2015!
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studiosâ âAnt-Manâ when master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.
