I have a love-and-hate relationship with the show.

As a mom, I do not want my kids to watch this show. The show goes into a bunch of details about unhealthy teenagers’ s** lives. There is murder, bad language, and honestly a bunch of scenes that didn’t need to be so detailed in the show.

What I do like about the show is the relationship and secrets that are revealed from the mom. The mom gives me Julia Roberts vibes. This show has been my “Doing Laundry Binge show.” As much as I don’t like it, Ginny’s actress does amazingly, the untold secrets have me on edge, and the fun musical numbers are really good!

I feel like the writers did a great job on that part of the story, but then filled the other 50 percent of the show trying to get in their political topics that aren’t very natural. As a high school teacher of 18 years, that just isn’t what it is like. Some of the engagement with the characters and dialogue is what my kids might call “cringe”.

I love the inclusiveness of the dad who only uses ASL, but his acting is lame. It is so exaggerated and unrealistic.
