I have some very exciting news! I can finally announce that I am a Disney100 Teacher Celebration Winner! As some of you know I work full-time as a teacher! Some of you have been following my stories and movie reviews and interviews for years. Last year, a position came up where I could learn and teach 2D Animation.
I found out that there were about 7,900 teachers to apply and enter and only 100 of us won. I am feeling very humbled, grateful, and excited.
My passion for teaching, inspiring, story-telling, and movies would combine into what would become my dream job.
In January, my friend sent me a contest application to win a trip to Disney’s Imagination Campus celebrating their 100th-year celebration with 100 teachers. I applied and filled wrote an essay knowing it would take luck and Disney magic to win!
If you are a teacher stumbling this post during Teacher Appreciation Week, thank you for all that you do! I will do my best at representing your love and dedication to our kids!
This special time is to celebrate Disney’s Centennial! “Celebrating 100 Years of Disney Stories”! I have been teaching for 17 years and it is amazing to think of the stories I have and have created with my kids!
Our essays were how we bring imagination into our class. Inspiring students to find their passion projects and to find ways to tell and share their stories is always important to me. I find that some of the values of dreaming big, having passion, and being dedicated like the traits from Walt Disney are still important in today’s world.
I found out at the end of March that I was picked as a potential winner just waiting to finalize plans and background checks! I found out I won!
I am a huge Disney adult too!
I now get to attend the most magical professional development in the world! I bet to learn from the Imagineers and how Disney embraces STEAM and imagination!
I plan to be sharing my story on social media and again on my blog. Here is our summarized tentative itinerary! We will be meeting for breakfast and learning all about Disney’s Imagination Campus. Then we will break into groups and go around and learn more about the program at the parks. Disney then planned a special Disney Calvacade parade to celebrate us teachers (insert big heavy weeping tears from me here)! There is then a special dinner event that our families who joined us will be able to attend and we will watch the nighttime show together!
The cat was out of the bag early when I had to be sure it was okay to take time off work. I still kept it a secret from all of you until Disney officially posted and made their announcement!
