With Earth Day being around the corner, we love sharing Earth Day Craft Ideas to do with kids! Of course, you can look for Earth Craft Activity ideas year-round when it isn’t just Earth Day.
Teaching kids to care for mother nature, encouraging healthy living, and good recycling and up-cycling projects will help make them better citizens and even better consumers. We will continue to update this list so let us know what you challenge us to create!
As we started creating our series of Earth Craft Activity videos for our social media audience, we thought we needed to help create a step-by-step list that would easily be shareable across the web! If you haven’t checked us out on TikTok yet, be sure to watch our hours of crafts and activities (all kid-friendly including sounds).
Do you have an activity, you want us to try? Leave a comment or reach out to us via e-mail! We would love to include new ones to our ongoing list!
Earth Craft Activity Ideas List
Melted Crayon Earth Shape
My kids have containers (Tide Sized) of crayons and arts and supplies! We thought it would be cute to melt green, blue, and white crayons in a cupcake tin to make the perfect little earth.
I am not sure who created this original idea so I have nobody to credit. It reminds me of my days at a place in Kansas City called Kaleidescope where we made art with melted crayons.
What you need: Cupcake Tin, Various shades of green, blue, and white crayons, & Cooking Spray.
Instructions: Peel the paper off your crayons (we soaked them in water for 10 minutes), then cut up the crayons into small pieces. Then you want to spray your muffin tin with Cooking Spray.
Place in the oven at 275 degrees for about 15 minutes (watch them until they look fully melted).
Remove them from the oven, let them cool, and place them in the freezer for about 10 more minutes. Once they are cooled place a towel and flip them over to have the crayons slide right out (you don’t want them to crack so the towel is important).
Water Color Earth Painting
We love painting with watercolors! This is a super easy one for you and your kids to do. Adults love this activity as much as kids do. You can also make these into little folded cards!
What you need: White Cardstock, watercolor, and a black marker!
Instructions: Wet your cardstock lightly with a wet paintbrush with water only where you plan on drawing your earth. Add green paint to your brush and randomly make green paint on the watered area and let it naturally flow.
Then fill the negative spaces with blue using a similar technique and painting to form your design into a circle. Last, let it dry, and then using your black marker trace the circle and the green “land” spots that were created when you let your watercolor flow on your paper.
Nail Polish Hydro Dipping Earth Rocks
This was our first time attempting to Hydro Drip, my girls had a blast. I cringed at the mess and thought that if we do this again we will have to just paint them! But for those who LOVE messes and have a huge crate of colored polish, this is for YOU! I think painting with acrylic paint is a better alternative.
What you need: A bowl of water, blue and green polish, and some rocks.
Instructions: Drip some polish colors in your water and be sure you are using polish that floats…I didn’t realize I had some brand that didn’t float. Then slowly dip your rock into your water to make for a perfectly swirled rock!
