Yesterday, I was e-mailed about a HOT offer that was mailed out to people from Omaha Steaks. I went to check it out and it was also on their site. Here is my original post, if you click HERE.
(NOTE: the sale was posted on their website. It stated FREE ham with ANY purchase. It went through fine. Now they are being cancelled.)
Omaha Steaks just updated their facebook page HERE and this is what they said: “It has come to our attention that an individual posted one of our mailer offers online but did not include the appropriate terms and conditions that were published with the original offer. We assure you that there is no problem with our website. Unfortunately, orders received as a result of this posting that did not meet the terms and conditions of the offer cannot be honored. We are in the process of contacting all customers with pending orders related to this offer and we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.” —Omaha Steaks
My feelings:
I think that this is Omaha Steak’s mistake. If you went to their website link it did NOT say it was for a minimum purchase. View the screen shot that reader Cassy posted on fb:
I also don’t believe that Omaha Steaks should lose tons of money because of their mistake. I do know that their mistake was caught early based on conversations that readers had with their Customer Service. What I disagree with: IF THIS WAS the case why didn’t they go back to their website and fix the code so that it would be a dead code ASAP? Why let tons of readers continue to purchase from their website so that they can collect their personal information and NOT send them what they ordered?
Unfortunately, companies DO make mistakes. We might not agree to the decision that they felt was best suited, but we don’t really know how much money they COULD have lost because of this ordeal. 🙁
What do you think? Comment below.

I too don’t think they should lose $ and will be contacted to notify me they are cancelling my order…however, it was their mistake & once they caught it they should have fixed it. I am sure they will be much smarter in future offers and will make sure they put a value on the purchase that will get you the free item. I haven’t purchased from Omaha steaks in many years, they are a great company with a good product, however, this one is going to be quite a mess for them to fix and will not sit well with consumers. Let me reiterate that I did not wish for them to lose $…I kind of figured it was a case of too good to be true…:(

I shop at Sephora a lot– many times, they offer free items for any sephora customers with ANY purchase and many other times, they cap minimum purchase of $25 in order to get that specific item. Trust me, I have tried, only to receive a note that a minimum purchase of $XX dollars is required for that free gift and NOT allowing me to complete the transaction with that gift unless I add more to my cart.
Omaha is not a new company with its primary clientele making their purchases online. They should know better. I see their standpoint from a company but can argue that I believe in the “Give ’em the Pickle” business mentality to ensure that customer’s faith in their company is restored.
Brand Loyalty is hard to come by these days and have a feeling that the future business that they loose as a result of this error is not worth cancelling the orders.

I have an even lower opinion of Omaha Steaks now! The last time I ordered from them was through a “deal” on the Today Show and it took foreeeeeever to deliver.
If this was truly a special offer meant just for one person, than they should use one-time-use-only offer codes. That indicates a problem with their marketing, order management and website if they can’t implement that simple system that other online retailers use.
Needless to say, I won’t be buying from them again. Two recent bad experiences are enough for me!

The thing was…it wasn’t an offer for only ONE person…it was for anyone….but they failed to put the minimum order amount on their website and they failed to make it so that if you used the code w/out the right items…that it wouldn’t go through. The code shouldn’t of worked. Since it DID work…why didn’t they change it last night…:( Oh well….

The is is….not was….Oh I am tired today!

I knew this was too good to be true. Hopefully they will make it right some way. I didn’t order it, but I hate that so many did under false pretenses (not your false pretenses, of course).

I ordered it and mine was cancelled as well. I think they should honor it or make it right since they didn’t state a min. purchase.
