This Saturday, February 3rd is Sony’s Peter Rabbit is doing a promotion with Reading if Fundamentals to provide books and literacy resources to kids in need. I am going to share with all of you how you can help. Literacy is a topic that holds dear to my heart. I know that reading is a foundational skill in every subject a child will have in school. Even in math, those word problems are quite a stress factor when it comes to comprehension, right ma’?
As a teacher and a mother, I know the importance of Children Literacy. What I learned is that I am not the only parent who stresses about whether or not my kid is reading on the right level. I think those reading scores that go home with your kids that compare them to every other child can be a stress factor. Even though your kid might be performing well, how do you make sure they keep going up in their level?
Before I share with all of you how you can help kids in need, I want to share the best advice I have gotten all year about helping my daughter move up in reading! Allow your kids to read for fun! Don’t stress on whether or not the book is “on their level” or not. If they reading for enjoyment, their level will go up because they will grow with the books they read. The only way to be better at reading is to read. If you are looking for your own resources for your kids I would check your local library for summer programs and I would also try a free month of ABCmouse if you have never tried it!
Here is how YOU can participate in Blue Jacket Day with our friend Peter Rabbit:
Get on all your social media pages and use hashtags #PeterRabbitMovie and #BlueJacket to trigger a book donation from Penguin books. Put on a blue jacket on Saturday, February 3rd too and hashtag those pictures! The more engagement the more others can help too!
Pre-purchase tickets to see the film at Fandango.com on February 3rd and $1 will be donated to RIF (Reading is Fundamental).
Donate directly to RIF at RIF.ORG/DONATE so that more kids can get the resources that they need to read.
Peter Rabbit Movie will be in theaters on February 9, 2018!
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne). James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.
John Smith says
Sounds like a delightful way for a fun film to encourage literacy!
