Finding Dory Halloween Party Tips!

If your kids are a big fan of Finding Dory, it isn’t too late to make their Halloween Dory-Amazing! We met with Disney’s Master Pumpkin Carver during an expense paid press trip to LA! Enjoy our tips and coverage below!

Pumpkin Carving Tips – Easy Ways to Carve a Pumpkin

Are you looking for easy ways to carve a pumpkin? When I was told I would get to meet with a Disney Master Pumpkin Carver to create a Dory pumpkin, I laughed at the picture I imagined of my massacred looking pumpkin that I would attempt to carve! I learned these awesome tips and I would say that my pumpkin looks quite good!

Here is what you will need:

An old CD or DVD you don’t need anymore
A linoleum cutter
A ribbon cutter
Graphite Paper
Your FAVORITE stencil
Alcohol Free Disinfectant Wipes
Paintbrush
A light bulb you can plug in
Push Pins
Sharp knife
A permanent marker

I learned some great steps and tips on how to carve a pumpkin!

A pumpkin gets its nutrients from the stem! Find a pumpkin with a really healthy looking stem if your pumpkin to last longer!

Storing your pumpkin the refrigerator will also help preserve it.

Don’t cut your pumpkin from the top near the stem because you lose the nutrients!

Find your favorite Halloween Pumpkin Stencil, some graphite paper, and a pen.

Use pushpins to hold your stencil with the graphite paper underneath to trade your stencil! Use the black marker to trace around the main edges and color the black parts. Then clean off your pumpkin with some disinfectant wipes.

Trace around the edges using the linoleum cutter to create a thin trade this will allow your light to illuminate through the pumpkin.

Create your design using paint, carving parts of the pumpkin, linoleum cutting and ribbon cutter tool for thin carving.

While in LA we met with Disney’s Master Pumpkin Carver, Joseph Yakovetic!  He is a Disney Animator and now he is Disney’s pumpkin carver! He is pretty awesome and an amazing teacher!
