Let’s face it Kansas’s weather can have a mind of it’s own. One day it will be nice and beautiful…the next rainy. During my recent expense paid trip to Kansas City, KS, I experienced some fun things to do even on a rainy day! That’s the beauty behind Kansas City, Kansas: It has plenty of things for your family to do whether it’s rainy or sunny if you are planning on taking a road trip to Kansas City, KS!
Two of my favorite things to do in Kansas City, KS when it’s rainy and yucky are visit Moon Marble Company and Great Wolf Lodge.
Visit Kansas City, KS
Moon Marble Company
One of the hidden treasures is Moon Marble Company. While I only spent a short amount of time there, I felt as though I could have spent all day! There were plenty of interesting things to see! I was there on a tour and I can’t wait to go back!
Moon Marble stocks machine made marbles in multitude of colors and designs in sizes from pee-wees to 50mm. Not only does it have machine made marbles, but they also make their own! I was lucky and visited during the time they were putting on a demonstration on how marbles are made! Trust me, this is something you will want to see! Watching the heat change the shape of the glass was pretty interesting. Once the demonstration was over I took a quick look around and got to see all the vintage toys, marbles, and games that they carried. They also have a section in their store where they put on lessons to help teach kids how to play marbles.
Great Wolf Lodge
Once you are done with Moon Marble you will want to hop on over to Great Wolf Lodge. You can spend days there and never leave! They have plenty of fun activities for your family. While I was there I got to take a look at their spa, water park, restaurant, Starbucks, arcade area, and lastly miniature golf! Through out the day Great Wolf Lodge puts on various activities for little ones. They can make a craft, listen to a story, and even dance it out all in the lobby area. They also have a MagiQuest activity that will take your little one all around the lodge.
My family personally really enjoyed the water park! My children were in awe when they saw the elaborate indoor water park in all its splendor. They had an absolute blast going down the slides, swimming, climbing, and exploring everything the exciting indoor water park at the Great Wolf Lodge had to offer. When they were not swimming, they were getting their putt on at the miniature golf course! It was such a fun and memorable time. To add even more fun to our adventure, we enjoyed all the games at the arcade! My children especially loved the story time with the Great Wolf Lodge characters as well. After a great and fun experience, we had worked up quite an appetite. For supper we ordered pizza right inside the lodge and took it back to our room for a relaxing evening watching some TV as a family.
By the time they were done with all the excitement, my whole family (including me) was ready to crash! We had so much excitement packed into a short time. To top it all off, when morning came, we were able to enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet! What a great way to start our day and remember all the fun times we had as we went on our way.
Hollywood Casino
We didn’t visit the casino but I know it is right outside of the Legends! So if you are looking for a night out only for the adults this is a really fun casino to visit and is in a great location!
If it is a sunny day in Kansas City, KS check out the rest of my list about our road trip here!
