Exclusive Interview with Harrison Ford was made possible because I was invited on an expense paid trip to cover the Star Wars Press Junket in LA.

It is NOT every day that you get to sit down with a legend! When I found out I had an opportunity to interview Harrison Ford, I had butterflies in my stomach! Harrison Ford walks in and joins us in our blogger room for our exclusive interview. He smiled, laughed, and asked if we could ask more questions once we ran out of time. Harrison Ford credited his success to the fans. He mentioned that if it weren’t for families and parents passing and introducing Star Wars to their family generation to generation that the movie would not be where it is today.

Harrison Ford said that he liked the script because it didn’t ignore the fact that 30 years had past. They didn’t try to make him look younger and be younger for the part. They didn’t try to do the same things that they did 30 years ago because if they did he would “feel a lot less comfortable.”

During the interview, Harrison Ford, talked a lot about the story. He said that, “Star Wars is a fairytale structure” and that “storytelling is a service.” He describes himself as it being a “public service job”. When making the movie he said that there was a “collaboration process”. He explains that the process of the film-making includes a lot of problem solving. There had to be some agreement in the process with J.J. Abrams as they shot the movie.  Check out the highlights of our interview below!

Question: What is it like to come back into a legacy 30 years later?

Harrison Ford: It was familiar same thing but only different. I was their in service of a script that I thought was very good…Have a road map for the character that I thought was worth coming back to with a director whose work I admired from a previous film 25 years ago. If I were trying to do exactly the same thing and trying to pretend if I dyed my hair and pretended that 30 years had not gone by I would have been much less comfortable.

If it were not for the fact that these films have been passed on by parents to their children at an appropriate juncture in their lives – the generations have just been introduced to me – I probably would have a much different career. I am very grateful for the fact that these family films have been passed as though they were some nugget of useful information, or at least entertainment in them, and recognizing their value to the audience give them significance to me.

Question: Favorite Star Wars moment?

Harrison Ford: No. I don’t have much of a memory at all. I could make something up but I’m not generally disposed to do that I don’t come away from Camp saying we all had a great time and we love each other and it’s great although I could.

Question: In your opinion, what is the most appealing thing to Star Wars fans?

Harrison Ford: The breath of the imagination that is involved in these films. The strength and worthiness of the mythology and underpins them …

Question: Out of all of the toys that have been made in the last four decades, is there anything that you particularly like or do you collect any of them for yourself?

Harrison Ford: Well I mean, I just don’t get caught up in the toys. I really don’t care personally. (Harrison, starts to sneak a toy figure in his jacket making us all laugh.) Storytelling is a service occupation much like being a Waiter.

Question: Was it hard to get back into the mindset after so many years or was it second nature?

Harrison Ford: No, you put on those clothes. You know, you turn around and see that guy in the Chewbacca Suit. You know, you know what the drill is? I have walked more than a mile in those shoes and it was a familiar path. I was happy to be back.

Time was up and Harrison Ford wanted to spend a bit more time answering some questions he kept them super short and made us all chuckle! What a handsome man and talented legend!

The new Star Wars will be in theaters December 18, 2015!
