It isn’t every day that you get to interview Braeden Lemaster! With my crazy schedule, okay and his too, it was best to interview him via e-mail. I had my person email his person to get some of my spooktacular questions answered! Braeden Lemaster plays Kellen in R.L. Stine’s Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls which is now available on DVD and Digital!
Last week, I had the opportunity to screen this movie and I liked it! It totally brought me back to my days of curling up with a good R.L. Stine book! This movie is perfect for a nice spooky movie for tweens! Although I am 30-ish (yep, I said 30-ish), I enjoyed it! I am a huge fan of the cast and even Dove Cameron, who I recently met on set of Disney’s Liv & Maddie.
You might fear for your soul, when watching this movie. You will see monsters, zombies, and MORE! Check out my interview below:
Did you ever read R.L. Stine’s books growing up?
Yes, I have read some of his books growing up, but spent most of my time watching the TV Series Goosebumps! Those scared me so much when I was a kid. It was also so great to be a part of The Haunting Hour series before I got this film! Kind of warmed me up for it.
Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes I do. I love watching videos of ghost footage on line and finding places that are haunted anywhere I go! I used to put cameras in places and leave them there while they filmed to hopefully catch a ghost on camera. And I believe I did once.
Do you like dressing up for Halloween? What do you want to be this year?
I love it! I would want to be Michael Meyers this year. So I can stalk my neighborhood and scare kids from a distance.
How did you land the part in this movie?
It was a very nice and easy process. I auditioned two times and the second time I went to read for Lisa, an executive at Universal, and we got to discuss the character and do the scenes a couple different ways till we felt good about who Kellen was. Then got the word I booked it while I was eating my chipotle!
Did anything spooky ever happen while filming this movie?
Seeing all the monsters all the time was pretty spooky! but anything supernatural I can’t say so. I wish!
How long did it take to film this movie? What did you like the most about this movie?
It took about a two months to film. My favorite part was being inside the Halloween mazes and seeing all the monsters around all the time! Also I had the best cast and we got along so well and made our time up there so special with memories I’ll never forget! Playing games all the time and riddles and exploring Canada was so great and couldn’t have asked for a better time.
What is your favorite scary movie?
The Halloween franchise is my favorite horror films of all time. Halloween 4 and 5 are probably my favorite.
I’ve been watching those movies since I was 7 years old and watch them every Halloween. I can basically say every line before the characters do too!
How are you similar to your character in real life?
I would say I’m very similar to Kellen. We can both be shy around girls but also confident when we need to be. We both love Halloween and think friendship is very important. Goof around and make jokes a lot of the time. I don’t know however how I’ll react when a bunch of maniacs take over my town, but I guess I will let you know!
