Disney’s Monkey Kingdom is an incredibly fun and beautiful look into the world of monkeys. If you haven’t noticed, I love animals and animal movies. Living in the midwest I see my fair share of deer, squirrels and raccoons but exotic animals my only real option is going to the zoo. And our zoo is phenomenal, but nothing beats seeing animals in their natural surroundings. With the advancements of HD these movies just keep getting better. Monkey Kingdom is my favorite animal movie I’ve seen in a long time and that’s saying a lot.
I’m not shy of my love for Disney either, and I’ve loved the Disney Nature projects in the past, but this one takes an animal that can keep even the youngest of viewers. My two year old is hypnotized and captivated by these amazing monkeys. Several times all four of us were laughing out loud at something they were doing.
In fact as I looked into the movie a little more the most negative thing I could find is that it was a “Disneyized” version of nature. I can only assume that they mean by that they make it awesome. As with any Disney project the attention to detail and artistic camera work in this movie make it enjoyable for numerous reasons beyond the subject matter alone.
Here I am in the fourth paragraph finally mentioning TINA FEY! I LOVE TINA FEY, and I believe she’d love me if she were given the time to meet me ;)! Tina Fey does the narration for this adorable movie. The Blu-Ray and DVD also both have a fascinating feature with Jane Goodall and Wolfgang Dittus on the set of Monkey Kingdom which is awesome.
So join Maya as she welcomes her son Kip in Southeast Asia and follow along as their world is changed and Maya has to protect her son from the perils the uncertainty causes. You’ll love this movie, it releases Tuesday September 15th online and in stores! Order your copy today!
