I love these Luau Rice Krispie Bars Recipe!! They are just perfect for kids and a fun themed party idea! This is the 3rd recipe to my Luau party ideas! I have so far included Pineapple Upside Down Cake and some yummy surf cupcakes! Be sure to check out this recipe and show me your results! I love them and I know your kids will too!
Luau Rice Krispie Bars
Rice Krispie Bar Ingredients:
3 TBSP unsalted butter
1 package (40) marshmallows
6 C Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal
Rice Krispie Bar Directions:
-In your microwave heat butter and marshmallows on high for 3 minutes….stir after 2 minutes…..stir after 3 minutes until smooth.
-Add rice krispies…. either stir with a spoon or use your hands to mix well….(if using your hands coat them well with butter or shortening so your hands don’t get burned).
-Using wax or parchment paper to press the rice krispie mixture down evenly in the 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan….. coat the pan first with Pam spray…. cool….cut into 2 inch squares.
-Place cut rice krispie treats on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Royal Icing:
Royal Icing Ingredients:
2 egg whites
1 C powder sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
Add 1/4 C powder sugar until stiff peaks form
Blue, yellow, white, red, and green gel food coloring
Bag of shredded coconut
Royal Icing Directions:
-Mix eggs, cream of tartar, and powder sugar on medium speed for 4 minutes.
-Divide the icing into 5 bowls with about 2-4 TBSP of icing in each bowl.
-In each bowl add 2-3 drops of one of the gel food coloring . Mix well.
-Put each color of icing into a frosting bag with a small tip (or use a zip lock bag with a small cut out corner) drizzle each color on each rice krispie bar.
-While the icing is still wet sprinkle some shredded coconut on each rice krispie bar.
“Surfboards”
-Locate a picture of a surfboard on Google. Print the picture in color. Tape this picture with small numerous images of it on it to a cookie sheet.
-Tape wax paper (covering the copies of the surfboards) to the cookie sheet . Follow the color and features as printed on the paper.
*-Using a small pastry bag fill with yellow royal icing and a #2 tip. Start by outlining the surfboard first. Fill in the surfboard with the yellow icing. Allow this to dry for 30 minutes.
-Selecting a different color of the royal icing draw designs onto each surfboard.
-Allow to dry for 5-10 hours.
-Ensure that the image is dry, gently touch one of them with your finger if it allows you to push in on the icing allow it to dry more. If the image is dry then it will have a hard feeling not allowing you to push in on it.
-Cut the wax paper holding the completed image into squares surrounding the completed design.
-If the image is dry peel them off the wax paper and place on the rice krispie bar.
* Make a variety of different surfboards by repeating the directions as outlined above. Individualize each with different designs on them .
