During an all expense paid trip to L.A. from Disney, I went on set and met this wonderful cast! ENJOY my adventure!
While in L.A. last month I was able to go on set to Disney’s Gamer’s Guide To Pretty Much Anything! I have been blessed to be on several TV sets before and this one was very unique because there was no live audience. We were able to meet and chat with the cast to learn about their characters, the background of the show, and then we were able to do a show walk through with them! In about 40 minutes they walked through the entire show with scripts in hand as they timed the lines and were able to get a feel from scene to scene and how it would outline itself and work out.
Gamer’s Guide Cast
We started off our event by meeting the entire cast! During our question and answer! The four stars all sat up in front of us and they went through and introduced their characters to us! What I learned most about this cast is that they treat each other like family. They were all so nice and so sweet to each other! I LOVED how genuine each one of the was when they talked to us!
Cameron Boyce: You have seen Cameron in the Disney show “Jessie” and you will also be seeing him in Disney’s Descendants coming soon! Cameron takes the time to explain his character to all of us! “I play Conner. His backstory is that he was a professional gamer and he did all these tours and kind of went around. ‘Went to Tokyo and London and all these places doing all these professional tournaments. In the midst of a tournament, he breaks his thumb, which is kind of what you need to game. Conner has to basically be a regular kid now. You know, he was home schooled and other stuff to do his gaming,so his mom tells him okay, well you’re going to go to regular school. So I don’t really know how to be a regular kid, so he goes and he makes some friends but he kind of tries to use them at first to get back on the tour where he thinks he belongs. Then eventually he realizes that he kind of likes having these guys around. So instead of going on the solo gaming tour, he chooses to keep these guys around and go on the team tour, with these guys.
Sophie Reynolds: “I play Ashley on the show. She’s the girl. She hangs with the guys. And is not always the smartest with the books, but she’s got a really good heart and she’s just a good friend. She’s a great gamer, super-smart gamer. That’s like her strength.”
Felix Avitia: “I’m Felix Avitia and I play Franklin on the show. Franklin’s very positive, very energetic. He wants to fit in. He’s not the best gamer like these guys who grew up like that. He wants to fit in with people and he wants to be a part of the group. So he’s very smart. You know, outside of the gaming world, he’s very smart. He knows common sense and knows he loves school and just being in that. He’s got a great sense of fashion, always wearing ties and shoes and pants and shirts. He’s just a good kid and he wants to make everybody as happy as they can be all the time. That’s what I love about him.”
Murray Wyatt Rundus:”I play Wendell on the show and he’s very very full of himself. He is a very cocky character. He believes everyone around him doesn’t know what’s really going on–that he is really the mastermind of everything that’s going on. He’s very aggressive when he plays video games with the crew and that really describes him.”
Gamer’s Guide Filming Schedule
Cameron took the lead in this question. He mentioned that they work 5 days a week. They start on Wednesday for their table read. During their table reads they actually run it like a walk through to get their blocking set up. Thursday is their run through, Friday they have a run through. The Monday and Tuesday they come in to shoot! We learned that their script changes 4 times.
Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Anything Network Run Through
Probably one of the neatest things I have seen in showbiz. I am such a nerd that the creation of the show with the talent really amazes me. I was walking through the sets with about a crowd of 40 people, which included parents, and siblings of the children on the show. This was called a network run through! The show we watched is their Halloween episode and it is Episode 9 of their season!
The neatest thing that I noticed about this cast more than any other, was about how they all talked about how much of a team and a family that they felt like they were. Plus, as a former gamer myself, I loved how the masterminds were really into video games! The actors in the show, although they are very young, were truly professional and talented! I can’t wait to see what this show does once it hits TV!
