Disclaimer: I was provided on an all expense paid trip to LA to cover this junket.
Can I pinch myself yet? I had the opportunity to sit the be a part of a Michael Douglas Interview for the upcoming Marvel’s Ant-Man movie!! Plus, I have kept this to myself without posting this online until NOW, but something else that was really cool with Michael Douglas happened after the interview! I was sitting in the Disney courtyard area, where lunch was provided for us. Through the glass I noticed a small entourage of about 4 people walking. I had looked up and noticed Michael Douglas, I smiled at him, and he waved! Nobody else noticed him walk by! So that was my quiet moment with a movie star! Not only A MOVIE STAR—but a very talented legend!
While Marvel Ant-Man movie is something new and have many mediocre fans ask, “Who is Ant-Man?” The true Marvel junkies know that Ant-Man is a HUGE piece in the Marvel Cinematic Universe puzzle piece. There is a lot that happens with Hank Pym and with Pym Particles. Michael Douglas plays Hank Pym in Ant-Man! He was the original Ant-Man back in the day that created the formula and technology for this to happen.
So while sitting down for this Marvel Ant-Man Exclusive Interview, I noticed how GOOD Michael Douglas looks! He is 70 years old and seriously looked 20 years younger than his age! Plus he was totally charming! One of the first things he talked about was regarding a scene in the beginning of the film that made him look many years younger and how cool/weird it was to see himself look like that with CGI and cool affects!
Check out the best parts of the Michael Douglas Interview below:
Michael Douglas as a kid followed a non-Marvel superhero. He mentions that is historically is “not a comic book guy”. After seeing this film you will probably disagree for how well he fits his part! He said to prepare for the roll he was given a “lovely leather bound book with about two of the Ant-Man comics. Before I read the script, I opened that up and sort of familiarized myself with the different characters and little of the back story.”
Michael Douglas explained to us how there are different units in the story board with the student unit, him acting, and etc. Seeing it put toget was “inspirational”. Speaking of the technology, in the movie there is a scene where Michael Douglas is younger. The special effects are amazing and even Douglas commented on this, “with the special effects where they made me younger, and the other half I still have the dots on my face…It was the wildest experience I’ve ever had.”
When asking Douglas his favorite scene to shoot, he turned the table and told us the one he liked the least. We laughed as he explained the scenes where there were a lot of terms explaining how everything worked. He mentioned about Peyton, “besides being such a good director was an actor earlier in his life and new my lines better than I did. It was a little intimidating because I stumbled or flubbed.” He then did share that he “enjoyed the Pym Technology scenes.
“Paul Rudd’s a funny guy. How was it working with him on set? Was it all laughs,” we asked. Douglas explains Paul as “, just the sweetest and a lovely guy.” He wasn’t the first to describe Paul Rudd like this. Evangeline Lilly said the same thing in our interview with her and Paul.
We then went into some super secret spoiler alerts…so I am just going to have to finish this by sharing the blah blah blah blah…don’t you wish I would give you all the spoilers?! I like you all too much! I will share the spoilers RIGHT after the movie opens! ☺
Be sure to go and see Marvel’s NEW next BIG (or really really small) THING on July 17, 2015!
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” when master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.
