Have you had a chance to watch the new television comedy show “black-ish”? You can watch it on ABC, Wednesdays from 9:30-10:00pm EST! I had the privilege to not only meet the child stars and the creator but I also was able to go on set and check out the entire house. I interviewed Yara Shahidi who plays “Zoey”, Marcus Scribner plays “Andre Johnson, Jr.”,Miles Brown as “Jack”, and Marsai Martin as “Diane Johnson”. I interviewed not only them but the show creator and executive producer, Kenya Barris. We also met with one of the show writers, Lindsey Shockley.
When walking the set, I did totally geek out just a bit with how amazing it was to stand right where the stars stand during the episodes. Since I watch all of the shows I thought it was unbelievable on how they set up the house. Most of the items in the house on set, you can find in stores and online at stores like Target. They also have pieces on set that are a little older from several years ago to create a family feel and a more lived in affect. After all, they don’t want their house to look like a station from IKEA, although they have purchased items from the store to be on set as well!
Even the pictures in the frames are real pictures of the family hanging out together!
When you look outside the window, it is just a picture…even a blurred out picture! Some of the trees are fake and some are real, I can’t even tell the difference!
When you go “upstairs” in the house, the stairs lead to nothing, but you just go through one of the set doors to the next part of the set and then you are upstairs. You really do feel like you are upstairs in a house and not just on the regular ground level!
BE SURE TO WATCH EVERY Wednesday at 9:30 EST on ABC! Tonight’s episode looks awesome!
