Disclaimer: I was invited to LA for the screening and press day for Big Hero 6. All expenses were covered but I was not compensated for any of this trip or my opinions. The first place box office win goes to show that the movie IS awesome!
Getting to go in the recording booth at Disney Animation Studios and play the voice of Baymax was definitely a bucket list item for me! I only had one shot at my voiceover. I was so excited that when we went in the room to check out the booth, computers, and all the switches…we were asked who wanted to go first. My hand shot up so fast (like the anxious student who wants to impress their teacher). I was nervous we would run out of time and I wouldn’t get to do my voice or I would watch too many people and get nervous. Luckily, we all had time to record our voice…plus Baymax doesn’t have a mouth, he is a big inflatable robot, so everything worked out well and our videos all looked good!
I have a silly little way that I throw my voice to sound funny (I actually have a few voices that I do…) I went ahead and gave it a try when Baymax’s belly lit up in the clip! Now I want to play in the recording booth all day long! When I was in High School I competed in Pro’s Reading…so this was a lot of fun for me! I also lettered in drama. I hate to tell you how many years ago that was…lets just say it wasn’t yesterday! 😉
Be sure to check out this picture of me and Scott Adsit the actual voice of Baymax. This picture was taken at the after party following the Red Carpet Premiere. The cute little lady in the white dress is one of my blogger besties, Kristy from Adventures of a Couponista!
Check out my other adventures while at Disney Animation Studios!
Visit your local theater and go and experience this movie in 3D! You will love it!
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.” Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.
