Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. All expenses to travel to LA were paid for by Disney. These are my opinions and they are honest because heroes don’t lie.
Move over Olaf and Meet Baymax! There is a new lovable character from a Marvel inspired movie from the same people who brought you “Frozen” last year! I had the opportunity to screen Big Hero 6 at the Red Carpet Premiere in LA and it was amazing! The movie will have you on the edge of your seat, on the edge of tears, laughing with empathy, and feeling energized! It is about a boy and his soft marshmallow like robot who go off to do what is right! Rather than just rant and rave about how much I loved the movie…I broke it down to a list of “What you don’t know about Big Hero 6”.
What is Big Hero 6?: It is an old Marvel comic. Disney Animation created this film . The movie is about relationships but Disney does an amazing job of keeping you on the edge of your seat during all the action scenes. They also add in tons of emotion from sadness to humor to suspense and more!
Education and Technology: I am going to go all “Computer Teacher” on you because there is a lot of innovative ideas and technology in this film. You also see women characters in technology and engineering. I can see a lot of inspiration to inspire girls to be interested in invention and technology.
Stay after the credits: Do I really have to remind you to do this? This movie is based on a Marvel comic. All the marvel fans KNOW that you keep your butt sitting down during the credits because the end is always AMAZING & FUNNY!
FEAST: This movie will show the best short in prior to it starting that I have ever seen. I just KNOW it will win an Oscar. It was so cute, you will laugh, cry, and be able to relate! Plus the doggie is ADORABLE!
Cameo: Here is another Marvel well known fact. There is always a Stan Lee cameo. When you go and see the film, see if you can find him. I am not giving you ANY spoilers.
Addicted to Tech: There are tons of great lessons in this movie. I found it interested that technology is portrayed in a very positive way in the movie. It is the way of the future and is created to improve quality life. Hiro in the film, creates a relationship with a Robot. I found a correlation to people in real life. We are often on our smart phones and on social media 24/7 that we have created our own relationships with our phones and with technology.
Life Lessons: Holy Moly, Big Hero 6 did not shy away from huge family lessons like learning to live with the death of a young one. You will find yourself feeling touched and opening up some new conversations with your children.
Love of Marshmallows: So you are going to hear Baymax referred to as a big marshmallow in the movie. Watching how Hiro bonds and creates a relationship with Baymax will have you feeling so touched. He learns about coping with the loss of his brother and how he can live through his brother although he isn’t on earth physically, he is still “here”.
Visit your local theater and go and experience this movie in 3D! You will love it!
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.” Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.
