Disclaimer: I was sent to the Sex Tape press junket in LA to cover the movie & interview the talent. I was not compensated but travel expenses were covered by Sony Pictures/Columbia. All opinions are mine and mine only. WARNING this movie is rated “R” and is meant for a fun Mommy’s Night Out film. Read below to see what I really thought.
I am not positive how to begin the movie review for “Sex Tape” movie starring Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, and more great actors and actresses. First of all let me start off by reminding you that I am very conservative when it talks about discussing anything about that three letter word. You know the one I am talking about. A movie with such a title isn’t usually my thing. When I was invited to attend this movie screening in LA and interview the cast I was super excited and I knew that I had to be completely be honest with all of you! I was humbled to be invited and concerned on what I agreed to do. I was nervous because the movie has such a bad title. How would I even tweet, post, and share a movie with such an eek title?!
Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) are a married couple still very much in love, but ten years and two kids have cooled the passion. To get it back, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in THE JOY OF SEX in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea, until they discover that their most private video has gone public. In a panic, they begin a wild night of adventure – tracking down leads, roping in friends, duping Annie’s boss – all to reclaim their video, their reputation, their sanity, and, most importantly, their marriage.
Let me start off by saying that this movie is only for the extremely mature audience because of the sexual content, language, and lack of wardrobe in certain scenes. I would not take my family to see this movie. I would take my husband or even better I would make it a “Girls Night Out”!
So what did I think?! OH MY GOSH!!! This movie was HILARIOUS! I am pretty sure I laughed so hard that I had tears! I also had to cover my face *A LOT* during some of the scenes because of how it kept me on edge. I invited a couple of friends to see the movie with me who also liked it. I believe that if you liked Hangover you are going to love this movie. The entire time I was thinking….”Oh My Gosh! I have to share this on my G Rated Blog…Oh Boy! What are my readers going to think?! What is my family and co-workers going to think when they hear me talk about a “Sex Tape” movie?!” I was feeling awkward but it was mostly because the movie makes us feel awkward!
The movie had a good meaning. It was about a couple Annie and Jay who after being married for 10 years and having two kids the physical relationship just isn’t the same and pretty much non existent. They try to rekindle the fire and well the tape they made synced with their new app and everyone had it. The actors and actresses were great, the children actors and actresses were very talented. It was about family and about this couple trying to improve their relationship.
I would totally tell my friends and family to go and see this movie. I would warn them that it is extremely uncomfortable but SO funny! The little details of the humor, the jokes they kept going back to, were VERY good!

I’m really conservative and kind of embarrassed by stuff like this, so I normally wouldn’t go see this movie. But since you said it’s hilarious — yes, I’d like to see it with my girlfriends! I think it’s great that the couple tried to rekindle the flame rather than going out in search of other people.

I must be living under a rock because this if the first time I am hearing about this movie. It sounds like you had a great time and enjoyed the movie!

It looks really funny! It would be the perfect date movie for my hubby and I… since we get them rarely with 3 kids and a baby. I would never do something like that… but the previews look great.

The synopsis alone sounds like a very funny story. I cannot wait to see this movie!

I’ll be honest, I was pretty hesitant myself. It normally isn’t the type of movie that I’d go to see. But perhaps it’d be a fun day out with girlfriends.

LOL! I am totally with you Crystal…It is like Hangover to me. Not my lifestyle, but I can use a lot of laughs here and there!

This looks like such a fun movie. I can’t wait for a night out with the girls, which is exactly how we saw The Other Woman. Thanks for sharing.
